Exciting Weekend

I just found out that we will be a vendor at the L.A Bazaar Bizarre on December 11th. I am so excited. For those of you who live in the San Jose and surrounding areas I am doing a show here too. Email me and I will give you the details.

I also have a few home parties booked for the Holiday season. I was working hard all weekend on making more jewelry so that with all these shows I will have enough product to sell.

We are featured on the Parenting Universe's Holiday Gift Guide. See it here

A Good Daughter

Tomorrow, Friday, is my mom's birthday. She's pretty easy to buy gifts for. She will obviously get one of her favorite presents...a new custom-made-for-her necklace from Sharma Designs. Lucky for me she loves my jewelry.

She also got another one of her presents early. A few months ago I contacted Carrie at Sommer Designs to ask about making my mom a custom purse. See, my mom used to have a purse with cherries on it that she loved to death - and it showed. I thought she could use a replacement. Carrie found the perfect fabric for the job and made my mom the most beautiful purse! I was so happy with it when I opened it that I just couldn't wait to give it to her. So she got it early (I am so bad like that!) She LOVES it. I really can't say enough nice things about Carrie's purses. They are so well made and just absolutely beautiful. You should definitely check out her site.

The only thing I regret about this year's birthday is that I did not find The Birthday Sock site in time for her birthday celebrations. What a fun idea huh? I am definitely ordering a few before mine and Bella's birthdays. What a fun tradition to start!! Birthdays are really big in my family so I plan to always make Bella's birthday a big deal too.

Happy Birthday Mom!!!

Nice Suprise

Wow! I was checking my stats and found traffic coming from this article over at the Bag Lady blog! What a nice writeup. Thank you Gemma!

Wow! What a Week!

You may notice that some of the handmade necklace categories are looking a little sparse. I have been selling like crazy this week! Fortunately, I have also been spending a lot of time in the bead room so I will have some new necklaces and earrings come Sunday night. I am going to have to design into the wee hours every night if I want to keep up this Holiday season!

Speaking of the Holiday season, I found a few sites to share this week:

This is a must have for any friends who are about to have a baby. I remember not wanting to go out without Bella after she was born because I didn't want anyone to ask me when I was due. I wish I would have had this shirt. You can buy it here.

Bee Squeeky shoes. What a cute idea! I love the black flower ones

Pearl River. Love all these shoes!

It's never too early...

to start Christmas shopping. I always try to put a lot of thought into my gifts and usually start searching right about now for the people on my list. I really need to be organized this year too because I am very busy. Wasting time in lines at the mall during peak Christmas shopping is so not on my agenda.

I know a lot of women are very busy so I have created a seasonal line of stocking stuffers this year. They are simple yet elegant earrings and are all under $10. I think they would also be a great co-worker gift. If you have a lot of women co-workers to buy gifts for you need something that is reasonably priced. There is a variety of styles to choose from and unlike my one of a kind jewelry, you can order as many as I have in stock.

I think they are pretty darn cute:

Bridesmaid Jewelry

What is a better gift to your bridesmaid than a handmade piece of jewelry that they can actually wear again? Part of being a bridesmaid is knowing that - yes you will have to shell out the money for a dress that you may not like and most definitely will never wear again except for maybe on Halloween. You might even have to get shoes dyed to match the dress that you will never wear again.

I have three bridesmaid outfits. I have never even looked at them again after the wedding day. I even liked the outfits and still never wore them again. I have worn my bridesmaid jewelry again however.

I try to keep this in mind when I make my custom bridal jewelry. I want to make pieces that coordinate with the look of the dress without being so over-coordinated that they will find a spot in a box next to the dyables.

Here is the bridesmaid jewelry I am working on right now:

The Dress (The color is a very hot pink):

The Necklace:

As usual, the pictures just don't do it justice but the necklace is very sparkly and so elegant. I hope the girls will be able to wear the necklace even after the wedding.

New necklaces

It seems that the Holiday shopping season has begun. I am very busy filling orders and I am looking ahead to shows I am doing in the coming months and realizing that I am going to have to make alot of jewelry in the next few weeks. Good thing I love to make jewelry.

Here are a few new necklaces that should be up on the site by tomorrow night:

The Sampler

This month Sharma Designs is contributing to the Sampler. What is the Sampler you ask? Well here is the description from the Sampler website:

"The Sampler is a promotional/distribution tool for indie businesses. Each month, indie crafters, shops, zines and record labels who run web-based businesses send samples and promotional materials to a contribution pool. I portion out the goodies, put them in little packages, then send them off to Sampler Subscribers and back to Contributors!"

I packaged up 25 pairs of earrings for the Sampler. I am very excited to participate and can't wait to get my sampler pack of indie goodies as well. It also gave me a really great idea that I will reveal to all of you in the next few days. Thanks Mei Lynn for encouraging me to do it! Here is some pics of the earrings I sent:

Cute huh?

Obsessed with Pictures

I have been designing jewelry all night and have some great new pieces. I just wanted to take a little break to show you how cool the Costco picture thing is. Look at the fun borders on these pictures! Obviously I have no extra time to scrapbook but I can make the pictures look better so that when I stick them in a plain black scrapbook it will look really nice. (Sorry I know I sound obsessed)

Okay back to work!!

Another random, non jewelry related post

I am not avoiding jewelry topics I swear. I have been filling orders like crazy though so I haven't had much time to design new pieces. Tonight I should be back to creating new pieces. The post office will miss me tomorrow.

Anyway, I just found the coolest thing. If you have a Costco card you can go to the costco website and upload pictures that you want printed. You can edit and crop and add really cute borders (I prefer simple - like the white border or torn edge border) to your pictures. Your pictures will be ready at your selected Costco location in an hour. Isn't that handy??! They cost 17 cents for a 4x6 which is actually a good deal.

I am probably the last to know about this but if not you should try it out. I know it will save me lots of time.

The Perfect Wish List

I love to make wish lists on Amazon and similar sites. It's nice to be able to help people get you what you really need. The problem comes when you want to add something like a handmade necklace from Sharma Designs. I don't have a wish list on my site so how do you keep all the things you want on an organized list that people can see?

Go to The Thing I Want. You can make as many lists as you want. For example, I have a list of things I want to buy people for Christmas, a list of things I want, and a list called "Bella's first Christmas". You can make the lists public or private. You can send an e-mail to people to invite them to view your list.

Once you sign up there is an icon added to your tool bar and when you are surfing and see something that you want you just hit the button and fill in the details. I am in list heaven!! Now you can show people the exact Sharma Designs necklace, earrings, or bracelet that you want for Christmas!! How perfect is that??

Here's a screen shot from "Bella's First Christmas":

Love Letters

I love it when my customers send a quick note letting me know how much they loved their jewelry. It makes my day. Here a few of my most recent "love letters". (I didn't include their names because some people don't feel comfortable with that.)

"I just wanted to tell you how much I really loved the necklace I got this week. It looks even better than I thought it would.
Thanks so much!"

"I wanted to let you know that I got my necklace today in time for the wedding this weekend and I really like it. The funny thing is, I had it in my bag when I went to lunch and was showing it to my friend, and had two people from two different tables come over to see it! So I handed out all the cards you had sent in the box!
Anyway thanks again and I'm sure I'll order from you again"

"I received everything yesterday- THANK YOU so much for getting it to me in a timely manner so I can give the blue stone necklace to my friend tomorrow on her big day! Also THANK YOU for the mother of pearl dangly earrings!
I'm wearing the butterflies today (already received 1 compliment so far!) and I'm going to wear the pearly ones out tomorrow night.
I feel so hip and beautiful.

Don't I have the nicest customers? I love them!

More Fall Jewelry

I finally got a chance to take a few pictures of some of the new necklaces that will be on the site shortly. I really love fall colors and have been very into warm colors in my designs. I have really been trying to stretch myself as a jewelry designer and hopefully in the next few months it will begin to show.

So here are the latest pieces:

Destined for Deliciously Dark

Destined for Bold & Brassy

Debuting as a Dainty Diva

Destined for Earthy Elegance

Destined for Simply Stated.
Now, if you are like my sister you cringe when something is not symmetrical. I assure you that this necklace is so cute on that you won't even notice.

Destined for Charming Chokers

There are a few more new pieces but I don't want to show all of them at once. Look for them on the website by Friday at the latest.

Desperate Much?

This is too funny. I saw this on the news tonight and I just had to share.

Buss Buss Haute Shops

Yeah! Our Onyx and Crystal Handmade Bracelet is featured on the Buss Buss "Fall for Black" feature page.

I Love the Weekend.

I am always a little sad to see the weekend go. We had a great weekend. Yesterday we went to an Italian festival. I had the best meatball sandwich I have ever tasted! I am always up for a festival. I love to eat the food and shop the booths.

Last night I created 7 or so new necklaces. I will try to post them to my blog tonight. I have noticed that the Dainty Diva section on my site is getting a little sparse so I am trying to create some new dainties.

I also have to announce the October contest. I didn't do one in September because I felt it was more important to focus on the Hurrican Relief Efforts. This month the contest will return. The prize in October will be a bracelet of your choice. Look for the announcement on the site in the next few days.

Lastly, I am always on the lookout for cute things for Bella and myself. I came across these sites while surfing last week:
Talla - Really cute scarves, belts and bags in vibrant unique patterns
Glugbaby - The cutest little tees for babies! I see a few that my little Bella must have!
